How to Calculate Your Zakat

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is obligatory upon every Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisaab threshold. The Nisaab is calculated based on the value of 87.48 grams of gold. If your net assets exceed this threshold, you are required to pay 2.5% of your total wealth as Zakat.
